Somehow I became obsessed with the problem of the unlinked library "Wintersheart" for the 2005 course
"The Falls at Playboy Resort", after reading a few reviewers comments about this 15-year-old upload.
http://www.coursedownloads.com/coursesource/coursedetails.asp?id=4954

I have downloaded and attempted to install the main course file and *all* the required libraries of this course; using the 2005 CLSetup program. When I attempt to use the Playboy Resort course in a Custom game (in TW05), the splash logo shows fine and then I get a "File Missing" error message. This is the same result as described by a few other downloaders over the past few years.

The 2005 CLSetup program indicates the wintersheart library is installed but not linked to any courses.
The 2005 Course Utilities program indicates the wintersheart library is installed but not linked to any courses.

I was wondering (hoping) there is a way to "verify/fix/force a link" of an installed library to an installed course; maybe in the system registry or maybe in the Documents -> Courses folder?
I discovered the GUID numbers and listings for the Playboy course and the Wintersheart library in the system registry, but I cannot figure out how these are linked by the software / system.
Thank You !!

Hello DFELD2005,

Interesting post, It looks the wrong version of wintersheart was uploaded after the big crash of 2010.
We had a huge server crash in 2010, and we had to reupload loads of libraries.
There must be two versions of that library, and it looks we have the wrong version on Coursedownloads.
In total the library wintersheart is used on 7 courses ( five TW05 and two TW06 courses )
I installed 3 courses that are using wintersheart library, and all 3 are saying wintersheart is missing. ( the library wintersheart is installed on my system )
I installed the courses in TW08 with TWCaddie08, the caddie tells you exactly what libraries are missing.
Hopefully someone can find the correct version of that library.

Note: How are libraries linked:

The automatic installer reads all required libraries in the coursefile
It reads the Guid number + the library name
Then the installer looks in your registry if you have that guid number installed.
The installer also compares the library names
When there is a conflict with the name, then you receive the message: the library is already installed but with a different name.
But when it can t find the guid number in your registry, then the installer will list it as a missing library, and you can t play the course.

So for Wintersheart library it means we have the library but with a wrong guid number.
There must be another winterfeast library with another ( the correct ) guid number

Thanks for the reply. I guess I like to "look under the hood" a bit when I get involved in personal hobby activities.
A few quick questions. Is it possible to change the GUID number of the currently available version of wintersheart? The version available for download here is: D91BAD66-3BA9-4DD3-8ABF-7EAAAF9FECAF. Do you know the GUID number for the pre-2010 version?
Or, possibly, someone who downloaded that pre-2010 version could share that file with you and you could re-post here? OR what about the Internet Archive (ha ha)?

We can t change the guid number of a library.
Its correct as you said, when you install the current ( wrong ) version od Wintersheart, then the registry guid number is: {D91BAD66-3BA9-4DD3-8ABF-7EAAAF9FECAF}
I did some digging in the archive, and i think the registry number for the correct version of wintersheart should be: {9B706B8B-95F2-4E76-AF42-73F16F59E266}

Thank you again for your helpful reply. I appreciate your extra effort. While deep digging through the Forum this week I observed how patient and helpful you are to all incoming questions for more than 10 years.
I decided to use the "correct" GUID number you provided for the wintersheart library. Using the Win 10 Registry Editor program, I used the "rename" command for the registry entry for:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\EA SPORTS\TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 2005\Libraries\{D91BAD66-3BA9-4DD3-8ABF-7EAAAF9FECAF}]
After the rename, my entry looks like this:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\EA SPORTS\TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 2005\Libraries\{9B706B8B-95F2-4E76-AF42-73F16F59E266}]
I did not change the data entries for "Filename" and "Name".
Then I launched TW2005 and I was able to start playing the course for "The Falls at Playboy Resort". I did not play all 18 holes. So maybe that specific wintersheart element will not work (or maybe just look weird). I can guess the other 6 courses that rely on the wintersheart library could work with this quick fix.
Thank You !!

Nice one, good thinking, good news you got it working.
Thanks for posting the solution.
Tomorrow i will have a look on my old system if i can find the other version of the library.

We are looking for someone who can play the TW05 course: Royal Slioch and Maree Wintersheart ( by: Engguy )
When you can play that course then you have the correct version of the library: Wintersheart
On Coursedownloads we have the wrong version of that library ( we probably lost it after the big server crash in 2010 )
It would be great if someone could send us the working version of the library: Wintersheart

I apologize, my solution above does not work for the 2005 course "Royal Slioch and Maree Wintersheart". The putting green is white and any ball that lands is "out of bounds". In my June 2020 comments, I only explored the replacement of the GUID number (Wintersheart library) for the course "The Falls at Playboy Resort".

I tested my Wintersheart GUID renaming idea on all the TW2005 courses that require this library from Engguy. Mountain Valley and Snow Valley have the same problem as Royal Slioch and Maree (gray fairways and white putting green); out-of-bounds. Winters Creek and The Falls at Playboy Resort seem to start off playing OK. The fairways and putting green look and play normal.

Another discovery, the architect of Royal Slioch and Maree for TW2005 (Engguy) also uploaded a TW2004 version of this course.
I compared the libraries and they are quite a bit different. The 2004 version seems to run OK in TW2004.

Maybe one of Engguy''s fans will discover this small trail of messages one day and upload the correct Wintersheart library??
