Hiya Argon, virtual machine ( VM ) will not work on Win7 home, some more info below:
When you have the Professional, Ultimate or Enterprise version of Windows 7, you can use Windows virtual pc ( Virtual Machine ) to compile courses.
When you have the Home version of Windows 7, you will have to compile your course on a system with XP.

If you have Windows 7 home or Windows Vista you can try this method, but you will need the XP software to install onto the virtual machine

Thanks Jim , I have win 7 Pro and I will look for the MS download for VM . |

| Larry with Win 7 Pro you just need to download and install Windows XP mode from Microsoft. Once you have that installed it is like a separate OS. You will then have to install onto the XP mode all the relevant TW material that you will need. |

then it''s like Back to the Future, you''re operating in 06/XP era while also in 08/Win7
so whatever you have in one place you need it, or it''s equivalent, in the other
but all you designers are slightly nuts anyways, so should be no problem LOL
once you have XP mode running then it''s pretty straight forward
install your XP software
TW06
CA
cltool 06
clsetup 06
then
tw08 stock libraries, plus any libraries for 08 course projects
once you compile a course in xp mode, then just copy/paste the tcr file back to a Win7 folder and install to tw08 as usual for testing etc

H`mm with that in mind I don't think I will bother with xp mode, all my related TW stuff is all ready installed on WIN 7 Pro and I started a new course.
I can compile on my old machine but that would mean making sure all Libraries in use now are installed on the old xp machine as well.
I have installed xp mode but will think again about installing all TW stuff again in it. |

a couple other things to remember - axe and argon (if you reinstall xp mode)
make sure the setting is for integration - this allows you to switch back and forth when xp mode is running, directly from sys tray/icon bar at bottom of screen
use CLTool06, so you can cloak unused libraries, just like in XP or Win7, as the CA can be glitchy if you have ttoo many custom libs installed
watch your storage - xpmode "C drive" takes some room, no sense having uninstalled library files etc also saved there too
(i use a NAME-tca folder on win7 with the tca/tcr files in it, along with required libs, then i can quickly install, uninstall libs in xpmode as needed)
watch those swap files - same as now - delete as needed
basically tho - it's just like having an xp machine inside Win7 - works a charm |
