what a contrast after just finishing playing "desert pines 06" by kaishodo !
i was expecting a course set in the desert and i spent the entire time playing inland, seeing the sand far away...
don't expect any cactus, desert plants or pine trees here but it will play nicely and there are lots of dogleg holes to challenge you.
regarding the "famous" 7th hole, i had no problem at all hitting my approach shot to the... left of the flag and the ball rolled nicely to within 5 feet for a birdie.
i was more troubled by the 8th hole where it is almost impossible to hit your tee shot past and/or over the trees obstructing this par 3 hole.
greens are a little bit tricky at times but if you don't overdo it, you can get opportunities for birdies.

p.s. course played with tw07 in novice mode, calm winds but with pro tees & difficult pin placement settings.

when you get ready to play a course designed by kaishodo, be prepared to be startled. his courses are like no others in terms of imagination, design, textures.
this desert pines is no exception : even though i am not a big fan of throwing everything in but the kitchen sink (on the first 2 holes), the rest of the course is amazing and challenging.
lots of beautiful holes (6th, 8th, 11th, 12th, 16th) but the one that everyone talks about is the 9th where the expression "when you come to a fork in a road... take it !" has never been so true !
well done kaishodo...

not a spectacular or colorful (no flowers) course by any means, but quite a few dogleg holes make it interesting to play.
fairways are nice and a couple of greens have tricky slopes. plays very smoothly.

there are fantasy courses that almost look real and others that look like fantasies: this one is the latter.
be prepared to spend most of your time hitting shots over big ravines (a little carton-like unfortunately) and a small bridge while contemplating the nice cacti and other vegetations along the way.
this course is spectacular in its own way (especially the par 3s and the 10th hole) and is fun to play just for its originality.
the 6th hole is very tough as it is almost impossible to get a second shot upward from under the bridge. as for the 12th hole, i will let you guess what club to use to tee off : i suggest to pray hard and you might have a chance to clear the ravine up to the green !
nice imaginative course...

p.s. played with tw07 in novice mode, calm winds, but with pro tees and difficult pin placements settings.

i have a strange feeling, sometimes, that i am not playing the above-mentioned course !
i just finished playing one round and have yet to see palm trees or the desert; instead, i saw a lake, some ponds, beautiful snow-capped mountains and... a lighthouse, not to mention a... boat floating real close to the 16th green !
if you include cacti next to lots of trees with fall colors, you have some sort of melting pot of a course.
i will pass on this one, even though it plays smoothly and the back 9 is much nicer than the front 9.

wide greens, wide fairways, wide bunkers, lots of straight holes. this course plays smoothly but don't expect big challenges.

this should be forbidden to design such a beautiful course ! another gem from smiling goats...
as i play a lot of courses (with tw07), i rate each hole for its beauty and challenge and, this time, i can't think of a particular hole i did not like.
simply an amazing course with an incredible landscape, near the lake or inland. the attention to details is fantastic, plantings are great, greens smooth and, at times, a little bit tricky.
what more can i say ? i was on cloud 9 from the 1st tee as my second shot landed in the hole after rolling in. and to top it all, i got a hole in 1 on the 17th !
once you stop looking at the gorgeous scenery, you should finish with a low score too. good luck !
if you don't upload this course, you will regret it...

p.s. played with tw07, in novice mode, calm winds but with pro tees and difficult pin placement settings.
p.s. (2) if you course crashes as it gets near the downloading end, set the tree details to "off". works for me, hope it will work for you !
p.s.(3) one question though : where are the glaciers ? i did not see any... must have melted since 2006 (lol) !

forgot to mention hole n5, a nice hole too where, with a little luck, you can get on the green with your driver as the ball will roll down to the left, thanks to a very steep portion of the fairway.
the front 9 plays "easier" than the back 9 where you have to make more decisions and hit precise shots. quite a few holes have narrow fairways and/or trees right in the middle, making it tougher to choose the right club.

well-designed course with a lot of variety, in terms of landscape and holes. love the 3rd, 15th (par 3s) and the par-4 18th.
plays very smoothly... if you don't gamble too much on some shots.
a course to keep. belated congratulations, mike !

unlike its name indicates, i was not able to check if the water was cold or not, thank god, but i was able to see how original this course is.
while the landscape looks bare, compared to some other courses, all the holes are set along the river and you better be prepared to hit precise shots to land on some very narrow fairways before going for the flags on some elevated greens.
a very enjoyable course with a lot of nice holes and a definite keeper for me !

good and simple course. textures look nice and birdies will come in easy for most of the holes.
no big challenge but fun to play.

this course is wrongly named : it should be called "bunkers' paradise or bunkers' nightmare" (depending on your final score - lol !).
i never saw so many deep bunkers spread on the fairways and around the greens : it's an amazing display of beautiful and original design.
definitely, a course to keep for its originality: now i know why goats is smiling...

p.s. course played with tw7 in novice mode, with calm winds, pro tees and difficult pin placement settings.

as usual, i did not look at who created this course beforehand and when i found out, it was no surprise : once again, barrylb37 shows why he is one of the best.
visually beautiful, this course offers lots of challenges : undulated fairways, blind shots, bunkers strategically placed, tiny greens at times surrounded by water.
i particularly loved the par 3s, especially the 2nd hole where there is no margin for error : either you land on the tiny green or you take a dip to the left ! take a look also at the par 3 13th hole : another beauty !
and to top it all, don't expect eagles on the last 2 holes (long & beautiful par 5s).
a keeper by all means : great job, barrylb37 !

simple course with no bushes, flowers or bunkers. visually, looks bare and more like a links course which it is not. the back 9 is a little more attractive than the front 9.
fairways are big and so are the greens. course plays smoothly but i shot 14 under par in novice mode with pro tees and difficult pin placements... without enjoying it.
sorry, but i will pass on this one...

nice course, especially after the 11th hole where textures appear brighter as the landscape clears up with fewer trees.
not a easy course by any means as the narrow greens are quite tricky sometimes.
well done !

another great course from barrylb37 !
if you want to see a well-designed seafront course with undulated and twisted fairways without too many trees, this course is for you. and all of this is done with only 2 librairies.
lots of very nice holes to look at (6th is simply gorgeous !) and very easy to play with wide greens where you should pile up birdies.

p.s. played in novice mode, calm winds with pro tees and difficult pin placement settings.

sand, sand and more sand !
if you can avoid all these well-placed bunkers, especially on the front 9, congratulations !
this course is beautiful and plays very nicely among all these palm trees and under buddha's eye (12th hole), but beware of the 18th hole where you can end up in the water if you are not careful !

p.s. course played in novice mode with calm winds but with pro tees and difficult pin placement settings.

from the 1st tee, you know you are in for a battle : 249 yards slightly uphill with a beautiful landscape !
enjoy the view while you can because this is the only flag you will see after that on the other par 3s...
what a course ! lots of elevation, big slopes, hardly any flat land, bunkers, trees in the way, wide greens and/or tiny greens and the ultimate par 3, the 9th hole : a blind shot with the hope of landing on the tiny island green. good luck !
a great fantasy course and a definite keeper.

p.s. course played in novice mode, calm winds but with pro tees and difficult pin placements.

what can i add after reading stefanie2k6's comments (further down) ?
very original design, especially on some twisted and narrow greens, surrounded by water.
i found the front 9 "easier" to play but maybe it's because i am playing in novice mode with pro tees and difficult pin placements.
belated congratulations, maggie !
